Mar del Plata: Recovery of the Tourist Season

Mar del Plata, January 10, 2026 -- The summer season in Mar del Plata shows signs of recovery in occupancy levels. This figure represents a significant jump compared to the average of 50% recorded during the same period last year.

Segmented Consumption and Caution

Despite the larger movement of people, Szkrohal explained that spending is not uniform and heavily depends on the purchasing power of each sector:

High-end Gastronomy: Notable and avant-garde restaurants are operating at full capacity, with advance reservations that in some cases cover the next 20 days.

Mass Consumption: The sector that directly depends on wages shows a more conservative attitude.

"Consumptions are cautious," the businessman noted regarding the middle sectors.

Other Sectors: Local merchants and the theater sector report an activity level that is still perceived as below initial expectations.

Climate Expectations

The meteorological factor will be key to consolidating the upward trend.
